Filipinos Join Pacific '97 Dateline: 06/30/97 | Source: Linn's Stamp Magazine The Philippine Postal Corporation together with five individuals joined the Pacific '97 philatelic exposition held in the USA. Mario Que, (Booth CH56-60) included in the Court of Honor to represent the Philippines as part of the countries bordering the Pacific Rim, exhibited the Philippines 1780s-1877 (pre-UPU era) prephilatelic and philatelic items. During this period, the country used Spanish Antilles, East India Co., Hongkong & Straits Settlement and Possessions for Philippines outgoing mails. Unfortunately, except for Mr. Que and PPC, others from the Philippines showcase other countries' stamps in Competitive Exhibits: Two competed in Thematic Philately section: "Bobby" (Booth 2926-2930) with Birds, and Edison G. Cornejo (Booth 2673-2677) with Halley's Comet-myth, origin, features and its recorded returns. The two others competed in the Postal History, the Americas section: David Chiong (Booth 1754) with El Salvador 1778-1900, and Fritz-Walter Lange (Booth 1231-1234) with Mexico prephilatelic up to first six issues.
